Ideas for Updating overpowered mes skills
-=If this thread is in the wrong place apologies.=-
Sup guys.
not sure if this thread is else where, or even allowed here... but anyway...
Thought I'd offer a couple of ideas I've had on the current "overbuffed" mesmer skills. Don't get me wrong - I love some of the changes but some are borderline gamebreaking atm, which is never good.
1st -(updated) Mind Wrack. This is such a powerful skill atm, useful against any proffession, to do huge damage and kill energy fast. For such a powerful skill, being non Elite is definately crazy although I like the basic idea behind it... It seems to have been intended to be a E-denial Boost rather than massively OP skill. there are two options, one would be to increase energy, activation and recharge, to ensure that it is used carefully and not throw around without care causing mass casualties. Personally however, I recommend my second option, a PvP split that merely reduces the damage to bring it back to being a E-Denial aid skill. I think rather than damage per energy lost, that it should simply reward damage for sucessfully draining energy to 0.
For 5...13...20 seconds, whenever this foe is the target of one of your Mesmer skills, that foe loses 1 Energy. If the target foe's Energy drops to 0, that foe takes 15...83...100 damage.
- Removing damage per energy lost makes it much more balanced, as it can still be repeatedly used to damage the target and kill energy, and still has nice synergy with E-Surge as a boost, just less gamebreakingly fast damage, as most people currently are using simply for damage and not giving a shit about E-Denial. Also a shorter duration seems more balanced, 20(ish) second hex that can hit 100 dmg, and drain energy for 5en cost and 1 sec activation is still more than fair, just limits a player throwing it upon everything and maintaining it. (ie have to take slightly more care in choosing targets)
2nd - Energy Burn.
I know this skill was not buffed but in use with other skills it becomes used in a build that has massive pressure and damage. For this skill I thought that:
For 1..5..9 Seconds target foe is Hexed with Energy Burn. Each second that this hex is active, Target foe is set on fire and loses 0...1...1 Energy.
This still makes it an effective skill for pressure and Energy denial but it would ease the huge damage off the current E-surge build, without "Smiters Boon"ing mind wrack or similar skills.
Additionally; Complicate. although it is a good skill, In gvg this essentially becomes a AoE unblockable d-shot, regardless of whether others were using it or not which is OP. In PvE this is fine, RA also seems very nice, but GvG and HA this is does a huge amount for a non elite (when used against res sig). IMO it would be more balanced to make it "disables interrupted skill (+1...2...3 seconds)" which still forces teams to use Flesh or DP sig if they want a fast res, but doesn't force a team to it's knees
I must say again, I am very in favour of the rest of the skill changes!!! =D
TL;DR - these are just my opinions, feel free to disagree, call me an idiot ect =D Interested to hear your own ideas for skill changes too!

P.S shit i wrote quite a bit,.,.. sorry got carried away =/

i think you got a good way of thinking, and i like some of your ideas, like eg energy burn would be interesting indeed!
but i don't think you would need to nerf the end damage on mind wrack, it was only buffed with 10 damage than before, it should stay reward to those who focus on energy spiking.
but agreed on maybe removing the +25 damage and up the rech/energy and most of all... cast time
(remember i play sec char as mes (a lot) so this is from the bottom of my heart)

Fair enough ^^. I dont think Unnatural sig got much use pre buff so i doubt that will matter though?

Complicating sigs is the only OP thing, just change it to effect spells only.
Mind wrack is the only OP part of edenial. Just outright revert it. There will still be an esurge build running around, but it won't be 1/4th as strong. Nerfing marginal skills like eburn instead does not make sense.

can a mod move this to the SUGGESTIONS forum? Its pretty easy to find an very blatantly obvious that SUGGESTIONS go in the SUGGESTIONS forum and not the DISCUSSION one.

Whoa!! Nuh-uh. Mes are now awesome. They are definitely NOT overpowered. If you take one skill, and compare it to...say...ele? like...meteor shower, THAT skill could be considered "overpowered" so....please just leave poor mesmers alone.

Many people seem to be mistaken here. I am assuming this is a pvp change and these skills are only problematic in a pvp setting. Your energy burn change actually seems a bit overpowered atm but that is another thing.

Exactly PVE no problem
Mindwrack/soul barb wasterals melt in PVP needs to be looked at Although it is fun to melt someone in a few seconds

Are you serious? In pve they were kind of overlooked by other players, in pvp they have never disappeared and were nice and balanced. Well, more balanced that what they are now with this most recent update.
Nerfed SW sins and brought us all mind wrack e-surge spamming mesmers to replace them.
I say revert the pvp mesmers back to what they were and make the update apply to only pve.

Yeah my bad I was talking about pve
but I say leave it the way it is now. I dont care anyway. Its fun to see all the QQing about how unfair and unbalanced it is When actually its always been un balanced.

Moved.
Revert Wrack. Revert Energy Surge. (PvE/PvP split them if desired.) If Overload proves to be a strong enough spike skill to make running multiple Dom Mesmers worthwhile, revert that too.
That should solve the problem.

Mesmers are certainly not overpowered in PvE, and really none of the changes need to affect PvE. These suggestions are fine if and only if they are split for PvP/PvE

Panic is off the chain. If we had a 3rd Mesmer hero, I would never shut GW down at night.
